Create Auto-Archiving News

One of the challenges to having a press release or news section on your site is the continual flow of information. If your site is made up of static pages, this means that every new page needs to be created with new links pointing to the new news.

Of course the real challenge is that information that is presented based on time, like press releases, even give extra attention to what is recent. You essentially want to pile on additional stories on top of the old, and have everything "slide" down. That doesn't happen automatically with static sites, at least not without effort.

The benefits of a CMS based site is that the CMS can take the added pages, and then determine what is most recent, then serve those stories up chronologically. This way, you always have your most recent stories on top, and all you had to do was add your news as it happens!

As new stories get added, old stories automatically get added to the archive. You can then serve up an archive, maybe listing out past stories by year, month, and date.
